Camnexus commissioned by Chilean Innovation Agency in study on Innovation Intermediary Infrastructure for new Innovation Instrument supporting Biotech Industry in Chile

In the context of the programme ‘Biotechnology as an Enabling Platform for Productive Diversification and Sophistication, IFI’, the Competitiveness Management Office of the Chilean CORFO Chilean Economic Development Agency (CORFO) commissioned to Dr Jessica Ocampos, Camnexus' CEO, a benchmarking and bibliographical review of three international innovation intermediary infrastructures or translational research centres.

The aim of the consultancy was to review key features underpinning international innovation intermediary infrastructures, selected after a pre-filter process realised by CORFO. The key features were defined by CORFO as the following:

  • origins and constitution;
  • aims and objectives;
  • governance structure;
  • services provided;
  • and minimum infrastructure.

The main findings and recommendation are found in the document "Innovation Intermediary Infrastructure" recently published in the website of CORFO and possible to download here.
This report has been included in the new national innovation strategy for creation of a Translational Biotechnology Center in Chile to act as an enabling platform. Its mission will be to accelerate the development of biotechnological products and services based on R&D carried out in Chile in a first stage, promoting the transfer and adoption of solutions to improve productivity, strengthening human capital in bio-businesses and promoting the internationalisation of the Chilean biotechnology industry.  The creation of Translational Biotechnology Centre by CORFO has been launched  on the 31st July 2018 in a open funding call from CORFO.
